A New Year

A New Year and a thousand new possibilities.

My husband and I were up last night talking about the new year and what we would like to accomplish. Last year I sat down and made a similar list with a few goals that I would like to have completed.

Guess how many I accomplished- 0. Yep, a big, fat goose egg.

I felt a little discouraged; then I started thumbing through my 2013 day planner. We had so many blessings, memories, and big events take place this year, it brought me to tears. Those missed goals seemed so small in comparison. This also proves what can happen in our lives when we let go of our plans and let The Lord take over. His goals for our lives far outweigh the goals we can set for ourselves. There's absolutely nothing wrong with setting goals for yourself. Just don't become so obsessed that you miss what The Lord has planned for you. I almost did on several occasions.

So my goals this next year are simple:
1. Live a healthier lifestyle
2. Make as many memories as possible
3. Don't sweat the small stuff

Fun on the campaign trail :-)

These kids are always a blessing to me!

Memories made with my family...

And memories made with David's family!

I am one Blessed Lady. Blessed, blessed, blessed.

What's For Dinner?

Guess what!?! I cooked dinner! Yes, you read that right, I actually cooked. Ok, a little dramatic I know, but I have gotten out of the habit of cooking. Seems like our dinners have always suffered due to the hectic schedules we both have. Some friends of ours gave us some gorgeous red potatoes. They gave us alot so we will be haing potatoes at the next several meals probably. They are delicious so no complaints here :-)

I decided to oven roast them for this meal
I combined some minced garlic, rosemary and olive oil and covered the potatoes in the mixture.
I then put them on a sheet pan and cooked at 350 for 40 min.
Then put sea salt and pepper on them and they were delish :-)

I cut one chicken breast in half because we prefer the thin cuts of chicken. Then used several different spices to make a marinade and cooked it on the stove top. Then added some of my favorite summer side dishes- Fresh corn on the cob and fresh tomatoes! It hardly gets any better than that :-)

Chyanne's Birthday Cupcakes

I asked the kiddos what they wanted for Chyanne's birthday. The overwhelming response was Cupcakes :-) So we made some yummy cupcakes! My helpers did a very good job and they had a blast!

There was enough for everyone to take some home too!

Free Time

During free play last week I let the kids take apart my couch. They built a fort with the cushions and then decided to all take turns "reading" to each other. I love they enjoy reading or even pretending to read. I love these kids!
