The Past Month and a Half...

Sooooooooo much has happened in the last month and a half. Last time I blogged I told everyone about the baby girl we were planning on adopting. Unfortuantely, that has fallen through. The mother changed her mind and is going to try to raise the baby by herself. She has another 9 month old her is trying to raise as well. Please pray that God gives her the stregnth and wisdom she will need to care for these two precious little girls.

David and I were of course saddned by this news. We know it was the Lord's will for us to go through this all. He has a purpose, plan and a reason for all He does. We are looking forward to what lies ahead for us. God is good all the time!

Is Anything Too Hard For God?

Obviously the answer is No, but do we REALLY believe that? I mean honestly, deep down to we believe that? It's so easy to worry about the future and what lies ahead that we sometimes forget to lean on Him.

David and I are about to adopt a Baby girl in September :-) We are very excited and thrilled about this opportunity. We were approached by David's sister Kelly about adopting this baby last month. She said that she prayed about it and even waited several days before bringing it before us. During those few days she really felt the Lord pushing her to tell us about this baby. As soon as she mentioned it to me, I said yes. I would take any baby, any time, any where. I love babies and kids. But of course David and I prayed about it and we said we would be willing to adopt. About a week later she said that they had found couple to adopt the baby. I kept telling myself, "If its the Lord's will it will happen". The song "Is Anything Too Hard For God" kept ringing in my ears.

It's out of your hands, you've done all you can do
You've given God the problem, it's no longer up to you
You've prayed the prayer of faith, you're standing on God's truth
While you're waiting on the answer, He has a question for you

Is anything too hard for God?
Who's got a problem beyond His power to solve?
Are there situations He's not the Master of?
Is anything too hard for God?

About a week ago, Kelly called and asked if we were still interested in the baby. The other parents had found out that they were pregnant and decided to pass on the adoption. This couple was told that they could never have kids! I was excited for them and excited for David and I at the opportunity to possibly adopt this baby. We couldn't leave right away because I had several cakes to make and deliver on Saturday. As soon as they were delivered we headed to Florida to meet the Mother and some of her family. The Lord even provided the money for gas for the entire trip!

Hallelujah!!

We know that God has been working for us this entire time, but I must admit that I was a little nervous meeting with the Mother and her family. I don't normally get nervous about much. She was so sweet and nice. It really put me at ease. After talking with her, she said that she would like for us to adopt her baby!!

We were over the moon happy!!

Only believe, trust His word, you'll see
His plans are now unfolding, performing perfectly
It's clear how much He loves you, look at all He's done
For all your questions, there's really only one

Is anything too hard for God?
Who's got a problem beyond His power to solve?
Are there situations He's not the Master of?
Is anything too hard for God?

We still have to get together about $4,000 to pay for all the lawyer fees, home study fees and other filing fees. But I have the utmost confidence that the Lord will provide for all of our needs. He has brought us this far for a purpose.
I also realize that we could end up with our hearts broken if something falls through. I know the Lord has led us to this point for a purpose and that He has a plan for us. We pray that the end result will be with us holding a beautiful baby girl.

Please continue to pray for David and I, and a healthy Mother and baby.
God is good all the time!

Is Anything Too Hard For God?
Verse 1: It's out of your hands, you've done all you can do
You've given God the problem, it's no longer up to you
You've prayed the prayer of faith, you're standing on God's truth
While you're waiting on the answer, He has a question for you

Chorus: Is anything too hard for God?

Who's got a problem beyond His power to solve?
Are there situations He's not the Master of?
Is anything too hard for God?

Verse 2: Only believe, trust His word, you'll see

His plans are now unfolding, performing perfectly
It's clear how much He loves you, look at all He's done
For all your questions, there's really only one

Chorus: Is anything too hard for God?

Who's got a problem beyond His power to solve?
Are there situations He's not the Master of?
Is anything too hard for God?

My Stump Cake!

So for the longest time now, I have wanted to make a stump cake. Well last month I had someone place an order for one for their wedding cake. I think I was more excited than they were about the cake. Here are a few pictures from the cake as I made it:

The cake was Yellow with Raspberry Filing. Yummy!!

This picture shows 5 but I actually made six layers to this cake. It was 10 inches wide.

Then I put a layer of buttercreme icing on it.

The trunk part was made of rice krispy treats.  Then I iced those over. I wanted a rough type of look so I didn't smooth the frosting.

I covered the cake with fondant that was lightly colored brown (the color of the light rings on top).
It might be hard to tell in the picture below, but I took a knife and slashed lines all over the cake for the bark look. Then I used coloring/edible paint and painted on the dark brown color.
I made some mushrooms, vines, flowers, and some grass to complete the cake. The end result:

Ta-Da!

I loved making this cake. It was so much fun. When I delivered the cake, there was a collective gasp as we walked through the door. Everyone was amazed. Yay!!

Happy 1st Birthday Ethan!

Happy Birthday to my nephew Ethan Alexander Lynn. His birthday was a week ago but I haven't had much time to blog.

Here is only a few hours old. He was a beautiful baby and so well mannered. He was always a good baby :-)

Here is a picture of the family a year later. Isn't he adorable. Curly hair and those piercing blue eyes.
He looks alot like Mary when she was the same age, but he has his daddy's eyes.

They came up from Hot Springs for the party. Ethan's Grandma Lynn flew down for the occasion!
We all had a good time and spoiled him with all kinds of fun toys :-)

Well I had a cake I was going to make but I had to get rid of it. So we had to settle for a store cake.
I felt so bad. I do not like store cakes anymore.
But anyhoo...

Happy Birthday Ethan! Aunt Nay loves you!!
